New Rules for Liquids in U.S. Courthouse and Hale Boggs Federal Building

Please see the attached document, which takes effect August 1, 2011:

the amount of liquids, gels, creams, and aerosol products brought into the US Courthouse/Hale Boggs Federal Building shall be limited to five-3 ounce containers. This amount restriction includes, but is not limited to: water, soda, coffee, and other beverages as well as hand creams, lotions, perfume, incense, toothpaste, deodorant, liquid soap, etc. Visitors possessing liquids shall inform Court Security Officers of this fact, prior to screening. Annual Meeting and Luncheon – August 31

The New Orleans Chapter of the Federal Bar Association will host its Annual Meeting and Awards Luncheon on Wednesday, August 31, 2011, at The Westin New Orleans, Canal Place.  A cocktail hour will begin at 11:00 a.m., with the luncheon to follow at noon.  The cost to attend the luncheon is $50 per person.  Please use the registration form below to register.

The Federal Bar Association's New Orleans Chapter is pleased to co-sponsor a CLE presentation entitled "A.P. Tureaud - A More Noble Cause" on Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at the Louisiana Supreme Court, 400 Royal Street.  The presentation, which is free and open to the public, will examine the life and legal career of Alexander Pierre Tureaud.  Attendees will receive one hour of professionalism credit.  Please see the attached flyer for more information. June 2, 2011 CLE "Bankruptcy Tips for the Non-Bankruptcy Lawyer - Pitfalls to Avoid"

On Thursday, June 2, 2011, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Federal Bar Association's New Orleans Chapter will present a CLE program entitled "Bankruptcy Tips for the Non-Bankruptcy Lawyer - Pitfalls to Avoid."  This program is designed for attorneys who do not specialize in bankruptcy law, but who find that they are drawn into a bankruptcy case when their client or an entity that deals with their client files for bankruptcy.

The New Orleans FBA will present its 19th Annual Judge Alvin B. Rubin Symposium on Thursday, May 19, 2011, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Eastern District of Louisiana's Ceremonial Courtroom.  Each year, the New Orleans FBA holds this annual discussion on aspects of federal law or practice as a living memorial to Judge Rubin's contribution to federal jurisprudence and legal scholarship.  This year's topic will address ethical and professionalism issues relating to social networking and will touch the ethical and professional issues relating to these media from the inception of a matter through discovery, jury selection, and trial. Essentials of Helping Veterans Obtain Disability Compensation and Other Assistance

This program will provide the basics of assisting veterans in obtaining compensation for injuries and illness occurring on active duty. There will be a particular emphasis on dealing with homeless veterans and those who have been discharged with other than honorable or punitive discharges.
