The New Orleans Chapter of the Federal Bar Association is pleased to announce that Alan Dorhoffer, Deputy Director for the Office of Education and Sentencing Practice at the United States Sentencing Commission, and Kito Bess, Chief United States Probation Officer, will present a one hour CLE on the presentation of information to probation and the court regarding variances and departures from the advisory sentencing guideline range. Mr. Dorhoffer has been on the staff of the U.S. Sentencing Commission in Washington, D.C. since 1995. During his time with the U.S. Sentencing Commission, Mr. Dorhoffer has served in numerous capacities and presents nationally on the interpretation and application of the Federal Sentencing Guidelines. Before becoming the Chief Probation Officer in the Eastern District in July of 2009, Mr. Bess was the Assistant Deputy Chief of Probation in Des Moines, Iowa and a Probation Officer in the Southern District of Florida from 2001-2007.
